BIG BEAR HORROR FILM FESTIVAL
EXTENDS SUBMISSION DEADLINE
Big Bear Lake, CA - Big Bear Horror Film Festival – slated for October 16-18, 2009 at the Performing Arts Center 3970\7 Big Bear Blvd, Big Bear, CA 92315- has announced it is extending its submission deadlines for films to August 30, 2009.
The Big Bear Horror Film Festival, presented by Evil Kitty Productions (Festival Producer, Michael Coulombe) is teaming with Festival Coordinator, Jamie Kristen, to bring horror to the idyllic mountain resort town. They have been recently joined by mountain residents Event Coordinator (Special Effects Artist), Gigi “Fast Elk” Bannister (Phantasm IV, Bubba Ho-Tep, The Quiet Ones) and horror legend, actor Reggie Bannister (Phantasm I-IV, Bubba Ho-tep, The Rage), who are the President and Vice President, respectively, of the Crestline Creative Arts Foundation a 501©(3) non-profit charity. The celebrity filled event will benefit local Big Bear arts charities as well as the Crestline Creative Arts Foundation (CCAF). CCAF promotes the arts for local mountain youth by holding free film camps, live performances, and internships on films.
Horror Icon and FANGORIA Magazine founder, Kerry O'Quinn, has signed on as host and emcee for the fun filled weekend. O'Quinn knows a thing or three about festivals, having launched FANGORIA's Weekend of Horrors 30+ years ago.
The event will mark the 30th Anniversary of the legendary Phantasm franchise and producer/writer/director, Don Coscarelli, has confirmed he will be present for the occasion as well as other leading cast and crew for special screenings of Phantasm (1979), Phantasm II: The Ball is Back (1988), Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead (1994), and Phantasm IV: ObIVlion (1998).
Activities will include screenings of independent horror films, seminars and workshops, and culminates with an awards presentation on Sunday. Saturday night is a fan fun filled VIP masquerade fundraiser ball with dinner, dance, and party where attendees can mingle with their favorite Horror celebrities while benefiting local arts programs.
