Artists of America

Providing School Programs & Art Classes for Foster Children & At-Risk Youth

Why Art Classes?

Who needs them, anyway?

Artists of America is an IRS Recognized, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in Los Angeles in 2002.

Our purpose is simple: Provide FREE art classes for Foster Children and At-Risk Youth.

How: Our volunteer members are professional artists who share their talent as teachers. Our sponsors donate supplies and material. We seek grants and donations to underwrite the costs of conducting classes.

Where: We began with schools in Southern California. Soon, we will begin classes in New Mexico and New York.

Why? In a country where 25% of high school students drop out of school, we must do something.

Bill Gates commissioned a study to find out why.

The answer:  Boredom and they don’t feel like anyone cares.

A New report produced by the National Commission on Adult Literacy found that soaring dropout rates and diminished literacy skills among adults are contributing to an increasingly ill-prepared U.S. labor force and pose a serious threat to the nation's economic future.

WHY ART CLASSES?Nicholas' Abstract

HOW CAN THEY HELP?

Art is not just painting and drawing! Art is Music, writing, dancing, theatre, movies, TV; the results of creative people are all round us.

Art makes the world interesting.

Think about this:

  • Without storytelling, there is no writing
  • Without writing, there is no literarture.
  • Without literature, there are no plays, no movies, no TV!

And, this is just one aspect of art!

When you realize how empty our lives would be without art, it’s scary.
